5 Things Which I've Learned From Shawshank Redemption

Today I watched Shawshank Redemption for the fourth time and still, it made me emotional, I know there is something in that movie that connects with my heart.

I have watched that movie several times till now but I never watched this movie for learning purposes before I've just watched it because I found it quite inspirational.

but from the last several weeks, I've decided to learn from everything, and because of which today I watched Shawshank Redemption and I've laid out some learning from it so I thought about sharing it here.

If you havn't watched this movie yet , here's the trailer to change your mind.

1. Be Unshakeable

the character playing the role of andy (Tim robbins )  is portrayed unshakeable in the movie, he always seems like he is observing his surroundings and staying calm in situations which makes most of the men unstable.

if a prisoner in prison can stay stable even after he's not done anything wrong and that too without blaming circumstances or the killer then we should learn this quality from andy, the quality of ignoring what we can't control and focus on what we can control and always be in control.

2. Be Optimist

andy was optimist from start, he knew he didn't belong to the prison, he dreamt big when he had nothing when everything seems falling apart in his life, he still had courage.

we should learn to be hopeful like him even when we face storms in our life, we always need something to hold onto otherwise there is no point in living a life without a purpose.

3. Keep Quality Of Perseverance

Remember this scene, where andy tells Red about his dream, Andy says that he would like to get away from it all and go to his dream home: Zihuatenejo. Andy says that the Mexicans say that the Pacific Ocean has no memory and that is where he would like to go. Andy describes in detail how he would like to open up a resort for tourists and fix up an old fishing boat, which he will use to take his guests out on the ocean in the evenings.

He knew his current situation, still, he decided to not give up and not be a victim personality.

4. Self Love

Do you remember that scene where andy told red that he murdered his wife as he never showed love to her which caused her death?

andy admitted that he was in the path of the tornado, and he suffered a lot from what happened with him.

But andy knew that he doesn't deserve to stay in the prison,
he'd paid for whatever mistakes he'd done.

From that scene I've learned that you should know your worth, you should know what you deserve in life, don't blame yourself for things which you don't have control over or not caused by your mistake, and even you did something wrong still if you take responsibility for it and tried your best to fix it, you should not worry about it.

5. A Person Turns Institutionalize

“These walls are funny. First you hate ’em. Then you get used to ’em. Enough time passes, you get so you depend on them. That’s institutionalized.”
— Red

I've learned that we should always keep hope, we should always have something to look forward in   life.

Here are my favorite Quotes:

“Salvation lies within.” — Warden Samuel Norton

“I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged.” — Red

“Get busy living or get busy dying.” — Andy Dufresne

If you have different perspectives, you can share it down in the comments.

Thank you.
