Things which we can learn from the movie "INTO THE WILD"

ABOUT THE MOVIE

INTO THE WILD, is a biographical adventure drama film, and it's an adaptation of a 1996 non-fiction book of the same name based on the real-life story of Christopher McCandless, a man who hiked across North America into the Alaskan wilderness in the early 1990s

You'll love this movie if nature and this existence fascinates you and if you believe in absolute freedom.

this movie perfectly portrays a story of a guy doing great in his career, everything seems good in his life but he was not satisfied in his core about the life he was living, he wants adventure, exploration, and uncertainty, he wants to live wild and not to play safe throughout the rest of his life.

hence, he decided to take an extreme path, a path of ending his identity from society by burning everything including his credit cards, identification documents, and leaving all the relationships behind .

he also burned all the money which he had because money was something which he thought will stop him from his complete liberation.

he traveled by himself into the wild, into new places hunting and eating animals for survival and making and leaving new friends along the way.

at last, the life of McCandless became harder, and he made serveral poor decisions which caused him to eat poisonous roots and plants which later became the reason for his slow and painful death.

he documented every experience which he had during his journey in his journal, he also documented the last movements of his life and he wrote that he lived a very good life after he moved on the path of liberation but he still felt incomplete after everything he did, he said that he realized the value of true relationships now before he finally die.

so here are some leanings which I've drawn from this movie :

1. The value of relationships

McCandless left his parents at last when he decided to stop living a life where he was dissatisfied, he never liked living at home because of the abusing and toxic relationship of his father and mother.

they never loved each other they were still with each other for their children, which never solved the problem instead it increased the problem for McCandless and his sister.

his sister was the only person who loved him truly, who actually cared about him but McCandless never contacted her after his decision of leaving his identity, maybe he would have tried but at-last he failed.

so, I think it's very important for us to value our relationships, some may complain about not receiving love or attention the same way they give to others but I think we should make our goal to giving love and to share joy because when we give something without expectations it's only when we receive everlasting satisfaction.

2. Power Of Desire

McCandless desired in his whole life for becoming free from the made-up world, a society where everyone is pretending to be a character but deep down inside they were the same animals, he wants to live a life of freedom which will be free from drama.

I learn that when we focus our attention towards a desire, we give this life meaning for a while at-least till we achieve it or till we change it, our life is meaningless we give this life meaning so why don't we make this life an art worth living and sharing ?

3. True Love

When you forgive, you love. And when you love, God's light shines on you

- a quote from the movie

I don't know anything about love, I've heard about it from others but when it comes to experience I think I never experienced it, or even if I did I can't comprehend it.

in the movie, his sister was the only one who loved him unconditionally because I think it's only when you love someone truly you can dare to let them free, and she let him free to live his life, she never complained about his sudden disappearance because she knew that one day he will free himself from all the bondage, which he did.

4. Meaning In Life

it's very beautiful to have meaning in life, it gives you hope to hold onto, it gives you the strength to embrace the hardships, I believe life has no meaning intrinsically it's us who give it a meaning.

I think we should focus on creating a life where we can express our-self, where we can reach and solve the problems of this world to make this world a better place to live.

5. A Life Without Any Expectations

McCandless spent his rest of the life living as a tramp, he used to call himself a SUPERTRAMP,
He traveled to many places and of course met with many people along the way where he made a few friends and he also found his love but he never stopped chasing his purpose of life he kept moving without any expectations, he promised some of returning and he leaved some without saying anything.

I think we're merely passengers traveling to our ultimate destination, meeting new people, getting new opportunities, getting hurt, keep waiting for next station but at-last waiting for ultimate destination will never make your life easy but enjoying this journey will.

    - It's Mine :P

we should keep this thing in mind and then we should try to live this life without the fear of losing anything or anyone.
